A perfect getaway for the active always-on-the-move kind of explorers. This safari will find you taking the Sirimon route up the second highest mountain in Africa. Mt. Kenya's diverse animal and plant wildlife is really what makes this hiking trip stand out. Scaling Mt. Kenya is undeniably a challenge fit for the adventurous sort, the reward hidden in the journey rather than the destination. The breathtaking views of the landscape spread below, crossing creeks and discovering waterfalls will forge lasting memories long after the trip is over.
You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi, and be driven to Nanyuki, a four-hour drive away from Nairobi, arriving at around lunch time, then proceed to Mt Kenya national park Sirimon gate. You will have lunch before proceeding up the trail for about 10kms to the old Moses camp which is situated at 3300m.
After breakfast, you will continue to ascend from old Moses to the west side of the valley, make it over ridge then into Mackinders valley. Soon we will make our way to Shimptons camp, this might take up to eight hours from the old Moses to Shimptons camp at 4200m. We will make camp at the Shimptons camp for the night.
As soon as you wake up long before the crack of dawn, you will make your way to Trekkers Summit so that we have arrived before sunrise to Point Lenana 4,985 metres above sea level which is the 3rd highest peak on Mount Kenya. You may take in the breathtaking view of central Kenya below you will have made it to the end. A couple of photos and videos then find our way back to the Shimptons camp for breakfast before making our way down to the old Moses camp for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will be transported from Nanyuki back to Nairobi for drop-off at the airport or at your specified drop-off location.
